Hardik Pandya Tipped As Future India Captain After Gujarat Titans' IPL Fairytale :

After leading an unfancied debut side to victory in the world's most valuable cricket competition, all-rounder Hardik Pandya is being hailed as a future India captain. In front of roughly 105,000 fans in the world's largest cricket stadium, Pandya's Gujarat Titans thrashed Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in the Indian Premier League final on Sunday, with the skipper capturing three wickets and scoring 34 runs.

It was the end of an unusual season that began with critics blasting the team's player auction purchases, challenging Pandya's captaincy, and forecasting a disastrous first season for the expansion squad.

But the 28-year-old, who is known for his tattoos and costly watches and was previously reprimanded for making sexist comments on a TV show, has been a revelation in his first leadership post.

In the Twenty20 format, commentators have praised his decision-making and field-setting precision.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar claimed Pandya will be a fitting successor to him following the Titans' victory at their home stadium in Ahmedabad.
